Solid Wood Flooring
Solid means that each plank is all wood with 3/4" - 5/16" in thickness. This type of floor covering requires more upkeep, but can always be resanded and refinished for a new look. Refinishing does not compromise the quality of the wood.
With solid wood flooring, there are three types to choose from:
Strip - thin, long planks
Plank - very wide planks
Parquet - great for decorative and geometric designs
These are all available finished and unfinished. We use a 99% dustless system with new installations, hardwood floor refinishing, and repair. This is a vacuum method that reduces the amount of dust created from flooring. Less cleanup is needed and is excellent for individuals with allergies or asthma.
Engineered Wood Flooring
A common misconception is that engineered and laminate flooring are the same things. Laminate does not contain any actual wood.
Engineered wood is real wood manufactured with 3-9 layers of various veneers. These layers can be from the same type of wood or differ to change its appearance. It is great for areas like Alabama where the temperature and humidity fluctuate since it expands and contracts less than solid wood.
